CPN-AMI is the result of a long experience issued from theoretical results, implementation of tools to illustrate these results (mostly Petri net based tools) and the design of a development environment (libraries, predefined tools...) to federate these tools

This experience was first acquired all over the AMI project (1987 - 1994).

Then, in 1995, a new software integration platform, FrameKit, was elaborated. FrameKit objectives are basically the same as AMI ones plus: 1) deployment and administration functions, 2) going from a development environment to a prototyping environment (development is then much faster).

So, it is the result of a collaboration between a large set of people who stayed in our team, some for a few weeks or month (student projects), other for years (PhD students, researchers...).
